Step 2: Shaping

If you have specific dimensions for your project, you can cut your
sketch (or a photocopy of it) and place it over the styrofoam boards so
that you can trace the shapes you need before cutting. Once traced,
use your Hotwire Styrofoam Cutter (a tool using a wire that becomes hot
enough to cut the styrofoam by melting it, check on eBay) or a serated
knife to cut and shape your pieces. Using a  Styrofoam Cutter will
create a smooth surface, while using a serated knife will create a
rougher surface. If you have both tools, try using the styro-cutter for
grassy and sandy surfaces while using the serated knife for the rocky
sections. If you don't have a styrofoam cutter, you can smooth the
surfaces that are too rough with sand paper.
