The air is stale and heavy as the adventurers step into the cavern.  
There is the scurrying of many feet and the smallest stirring of air.  The
adventurers may step forward and look down into one of several crevices
in the floor, and if they look closely enough into the gloom, they will see
the half-eaten corpse of an unknown creature; too much of it has been
eaten to be able to determine what it once was.  Up over the edge of a
crevice comes the head of a hideous beast.  The rest of its body follows
and it seems to go on forever before it finally reaches an end. Finally the
entire mass is in sight, and what is revealed would strike terror in even
the most seasoned adventurer.  It is, of course, an enormous centipede,
and close behind it are hundreds of smaller centipedes, scurrying
forward rapidly towards the scent of fresh prey. By
