Caged Animals and Experimentation Room (EL1)

The ceiling dips down low as the adventurers enter the room, making the
air feel thicker and more oppressive. A few torches illuminate the room
eerily, the firelight bouncing off of many metal cages scattered around in
no particular order. The cages hold beasts. Beasts of various size and
condition. One cage holds a dire wolf, a huge threat if not for the fact
that its emaciated body can hardly be held by its spindly legs. A closer
look reveals that it has been blinded; its eyes gouged out with some
nasty tool, leaving ragged wounds around the sockets. Another cage
holds several large constrictors, fat and strong, their eyes glowing
hellishly in the torch-light. In a nearby cage, a leopard paces back and
forth in the small space, a rumbling sound coming from his throat, his
hungry eyes taking in his surroundings. There is an eagle in a cage next
to the leopard, but it will be no threat. The glorious feathers of its wings
have been yanked out, as well as his talons, ripped out viciously, leaving
bleeding wounds. Scattered about the room are various other creatures,
such as dogs, weasels, and a few hyenas. Some seem strong and
healthy, but others bear signs of torture, such as dogs with holes
punctured in their throats, the blood drained to use for some evil ritual....

....The room seems to brighten and open wider as the adventurers move
forward. The stench of blood and urine is almost unbearable. On the
floor is another pagan symbol, covered in the blood of countless beasts
who have had the cruel fate of ending up in this torture chamber. There
are several tables and crates scattered with vials of varying size. Some
vials hold potions and mixtures used in evil spells, and some hold the
eyes, claws, and entrails of unknown creatures. In one corner near a
crate, huddled together, are the cultist responsible for these
unimaginable acts of horror, and the beastmaster who lulls the creatures
into a false sense of security, leading they to their demise. They are
making plans for the next experiment the cultist wishes to attempt.
